- Comprehension levels – Can they confidently answer the 2-3 mark questions?
- Vocabulary knowledge – Do they understand academic vocabulary?
Our online reading programme, Reading Plus, accelerates pupils’ reading progress by improving their fluency, comprehension and vocabulary to the level required to complete the KS2 Reading SATs paper confidently.

Ongoing data that support SATs prep
Pupils sit an in-built baseline assessment when they first start on Reading Plus, where you will:
- See if pupils are below, at, or above year-level expectations.
- Understand your pupils’ fluency, vocabulary and comprehension levels, and identify any gaps.
- See which pupils need additional support in fluency and/or comprehension.
This data gives you visibility of all pupils' abilities - so you can:
- Make informed teaching and intervention decisions.
- Identify and close gaps before SATs arrive.
Arun
Lower comprehension & vocabulary - lower reading fluency
Arun is an inefficient, relatively slow reader who struggles to read and comprehend year-level texts.
Hannah
Lower comprehension & vocabulary - higher fluency
Hannah reads quickly but gets frustrated trying to comprehend year-level texts.
Jacob
Higher comprehension & vocabulary - lower fluency
Jacob can read and comprehend content at or above year level, but he would benefit from support to develop fluency.
Aisha
Higher comprehension & vocabulary - higher fluency
Aisha is a proficient and efficient reader and benefits from Reading Plus as enrichment.
Getting every student SATs ready with personalised learning
The programme uses baseline and formative data to place pupils on a personalised learning path. Reading content levels are adjusted accordingly - automatically. This means:
- Accurate data for SATs predictions without the admin of manual testing.
- No need to lesson plan or mark – gaining time for SATs prep.
- Maximise progress, getting pupils in the best position for the paper.
Increase reading fluency and stamina
Pupils identified as needing fluency and stamina support will read using the patented Guided Window.
- Guide readers' eyes across a page at bespoke speeds.
- Increase the rate pupils can read with good comprehension.
- Overcome non-fluent behaviours such as habitual re-reading.
This allows pupils to meet the demands of SATs by ensuring they can:
- Read independently with good understanding to access the paper's texts.
- Read at 185+ wpm - the rate needed to finish the paper confidently.
Question level analysis in line with KS2 content domains
When used as recommended, pupils answer 50 comprehension questions per week to:
- Test and grow their understanding.
- Mirror SATs style questioning and skills.
- Provide QLA data to inform decisions.
- Track progress and close gaps before SATs arrive.
These questions are calibrated to a pupil’s level of reading proficiency to strengthen comprehension skills.
