Reuben's Reading Plus Champion tasks

We are thrilled to share what Reuben achieves as a Reading Plus Champion this academic year!

Within his role, Reuben has the opportunity to complete a series of exciting reading activities throughout the year, including:

Writing a blog exploring love for reading and how Reading Plus has made an impact.
Expanding their reading further and reviewing books outside of Reading Plus.
Creating a vlog detailing all their favourite things about reading.
Publishing their very own piece of creative writing on our website.

Opportunities may also arise to collaborate with us on interviews with children’s/YA authors.

How do you feel about becoming a Reading Plus Champion?

I feel very thankful to Reading Plus for awarding me as a Reading Plus Champion.

What do you enjoy most about reading?

I enjoy the twists and turns of adventure stories.

Can you tell us about your favourite author/book?

I like Dav Pilkey because he makes novels like Dog Man that are laugh-out-loud stories.

Out of all the books you have ever read, who is your favourite character?

Harry Potter because he is funny and can perform cool spells: Expelliarmus!

What are your favourite things about Reading Plus?

I like how Reading Plus encourages people to get into reading and the different types of texts that are on there.

Have you learned any interesting facts from the programme?

I found out about Parkour techniques, which were really interesting.

Do you feel your reading skills have improved with Reading Plus?

Yes, because it has taught me how to skim-read effectively.

Do you have any advice for other students on their Reading Plus journey?

If you can take the time to read on Reading Plus, it will help you go a long way!

What was the book about?

It was about a creature that lives under your bed.

What was your favourite thing about the book?

I enjoyed the part when the drill goes into Lucy's house, and she is able to stop it.

Who was your favourite character?

His favourite character was Lucy because she is the main character.

Did you learn any new facts in the book?

I learned some facts from the book, such as Earth is made up of 75% water.
