Kayleigh's Reading Plus Champion hub
We are thrilled to share what Kayleigh achieves as a Reading Plus Champion this academic year!
Within her role, Kayleigh has the opportunity to complete a series of exciting reading activities throughout the year, including:
- Reviewing new (and unseen!) texts yet to be added to Reading Plus.
- Sharing her experience of Reading Plus in a blog titled ‘My Reading Plus Journey’.
- Expanding her reading further and reviewing books outside of Reading Plus.
- Collaborating with us on interviews with children’s/YA authors.
As she progresses through her Champion duties, all her tasks will be added here – so look forward to more amazing activities being published soon!
I am happy and very, very grateful for the opportunity that I have been given. I find Reading Plus very interesting and love the great range of different genres and subjects.
TASK ONE: ‘Meet Kayleigh’
How do you feel about becoming a Reading Plus Champion?
I feel very happy to have the opportunity to become a Reading Plus Champion as it seems like an exciting experience.
Do you know what books you plan to buy with your book voucher?
Probably manga or books about witchcraft.
What do you enjoy most about reading?
I enjoy how the books can literally transport you to a mental reality that makes it seem like you’re in the book, like a movie playing in your head.
Can you tell us your favourite author/book? Why are they your favourite?
Twilight because of the description of the supernatural and the action in the book that makes it relate to being a “teen” vampire in school.
Out of all the books you have read, who is your favourite character and why?
Micheal Glass from The Morganville Vampires - he is invisible during the day as he is a ghost, but can be seen at night. He is a very amusing character and very protective of his roommates
What is your favourite hobby and why?
Drawing as it expresses a person’s emotions through art, and I enjoy using my imagination to create drawings
What would you like to be when your older and why?
When I am older, I would like to be either a vet or a doctor because I’ve always have had a passion for animals and I would like the ability to save an animal's/human’s life
Imagine you won the lottery- what would you spend it on?
Personally, I wouldn’t spend the money. I would donate it to animal shelters
If you found a genie in a bottle, what would be your three wishes?
- To reduce poverty.
- For any illness a person must be cured.
- To ensure the safety / health of animals to make sure they have a loving home.
