Ezekiel's Reading Plus Champion tasks
We are thrilled to share what Ezekiel has achieved as a Reading Plus Champion this academic year!
Within their role, Ezekiel has the opportunity to complete a series of exciting reading activities throughout the year, including:
- Writing a blog exploring love for reading and how Reading Plus has made an impact.
- Expanding their reading further and reviewing books outside of Reading Plus.
- Creating a vlog detailing all their favourite things about reading.
Publishing their very own piece of creative writing on our website.
Opportunities may also arise to collaborate with us on interviews with children’s/YA authors.
Becoming a Reading Plus Champion makes me feel proud and excited. It shows that all my hard work has paid off, and I am happy to encourage other students to enjoy reading too.
My reading journey blog
One of the things I enjoy most about reading is that it takes me on amazing adventures. Every book is different, and I like meeting new characters, solving mysteries, and laughing at funny moments. Reading also helps me learn new words and improve my imagination.
My favourite books are the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series because they are funny and easy to enjoy. The stories always make me laugh, and I like seeing what crazy things happen next. My favourite character is Greg Heffley because he is funny, relatable, and always gets himself into interesting situations. Even when he makes mistakes, he keeps trying, and that makes the stories entertaining.
One of my favourite things about Reading Plus is that it has significantly enhanced my reading speed, comprehension, and confidence. I also appreciate the diverse selection of thought-provoking texts, which have helped my perspective and enriched my understanding of a wide range of subjects.
Reading Plus has introduced me to lots of diverse vocabulary such as meticulous, resilient, and innovative. In addition, I have discovered fascinating facts about history, animals, space, different cultures, and sport, making every reading session enjoyable. I definitely think my reading skills have improved because of Reading Plus. I can understand what I read more easily, read for longer without getting distracted, and answer questions with more confidence. I have also become quicker at reading while still understanding the text.
My advice for other students is to keep practising, even if reading feels difficult at first. Read carefully, don't rush, and try your best every time you use Reading Plus. The more you read, the more your confidence will grow. Reading can be fun, and you might even discover a new favourite book or character. Reading has become an important part of my life, and I am very proud to be a Reading Plus Champion. I hope to keep reading more books and improving my skills in the future.
Book review of 'Who Let the Gods Out' by Maz Evans
Star rating:
'Who Let the Gods Out' is a fiction adventure book aimed at children aged 11-12 years old.
My favourite character is Elliot because he is a kind character who always does something good and also helps others to understand the Gods.
The best part is when page 152 revealed that Zeus is the King of the Gods and Elliot wants to meet Zeus one day and also Elliot is inspired by Zeus because it is a good part of the story.
My favourite things about reading
Hello and welcome to my vlog! Today, I'm going to talk about some of my favourite books and why I love reading so much.
First, let's talk about my top three favourite book series. They are Dog Man, Harry Potter, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
I enjoy the Dog Man books because they are full of action, funny characters, and exciting adventures. I love the Harry Potter series because it is magical and keeps me wondering what will happen next. Diary of a Wimpy Kid is another favourite because Greg Heffley's stories are hilarious and always make me laugh. These books are so entertaining that I never get bored of reading them.
Next, I'm going to share my top three favourite characters. They are Harry Potter, Greg Heffley, and Dog Man. Harry Potter is one of my favourites because he is brave, loyal, and always stands up for what is right. Greg Heffley makes me laugh because he gets into funny situations and tells his stories in an interesting way. Dog Man is kind, caring, and always tries his best to help others. These characters make their stories even more enjoyable.
Another reason I love reading is because of all the benefits it brings. My top three favourite things about reading are:
- Escaping into different worlds
- Learning new things
- Improving my imagination and creativity.
When I read, I feel like I am part of the story and can go on amazing adventures without leaving my home. Reading also teaches me new facts and ideas, and it helps me think creatively. I think reading is a great way to relax and have fun while learning at the same time.
Finally, I want to talk about three inspiring Reading Plus texts that I really enjoy. They are Pitch for Equality, The Rise of Simone Biles, and Breaking Records. These books tell amazing stories about people who worked hard and achieved great things. They have taught me about determination, equality, and never giving up on my goals. I find them inspiring because they show that with hard work and confidence, anything is possible. Thank you for reading my vlog! I hope you enjoyed learning about my favourite books, characters, and why I love reading.
From Ezekiel
The Magic of Reading by Ezekiel
When I pick up a book to read,
It gives my imagination what it needs.
I can go to places far away,
And have new adventures every day.
Some books are funny and make me smile,
They keep me interested for a while.
Others are exciting and full of surprise,
And open up worlds before my eyes.
I can learn about space and the deep blue sea,
And discover things that amaze me.
Every page has something new to show,
And helps my knowledge grow and grow.
Books help my imagination grow,
And teach me things I did not know.
So when I have some time for reading,
I know exciting worlds are waiting.
