Hi, I'm Nick. I support schools in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Cumbria, Southampton, and Barking and Dagenham to improve reading fluency, comprehension and confidence with Reading Plus.
Support that turns reading strategy into real impact

What working with me looks like
I don't just introduce our online programme - I partner with your school to make sure it delivers results.
I will guide you through:
1. Planning a successful pilot
Deciding which pupils to include, how Reading Plus fits into your timetable and what success should look like for your school.
2. Launching and implementing Reading Plus
Supporting with staff training, setup and pupil rollout, and best-practice usage models so the programme is embedded properly from day one.
3. Monitoring progress and impact
Working with you throughout the pilot to review engagement and usage, track reading progress and growth, and understand what the data is telling you, so you can see clearly whether Reading Plus is delivering the outcomes you need.
4. Moving from pilot to sustained improvement
At the end of the pilot, I will help with reviewing impact, building a long-term implementation plan and deciding how Reading Plus fits into your wider reading strategy.
Who I work with
I support schools across Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Cumbria, Southampton, and Barking and Dagenham, including primary and secondary schools, MATs and groups of schools, and schools with high numbers of struggling or reluctant readers.
My focus is always the same: helping schools use Reading Plus to make reading improvement visible, measurable and sustainable.
Next step: let’s talk about your pupils
If you’re interested in running a Reading Plus pilot or want to explore how it could support your reading priorities, the best next step is a short conversation.
I will:
- Ask about your pupils and challenges
- Explain how Reading Plus works in schools like yours
- Talk you through what a supported pilot would look like

What did you do before becoming a Reading Development Consultant at Daisy Education?
I’ve worked in further education and EdTech for around ten years, mainly dealing with colleges and the adult education sector.
What attracted you to the education sector?
I pretty much fell into it. However, working within education has been wonderful in helping people better themselves. There is always change, and I’m continuously learning new things.
Describe yourself in three words.
Hardworking. Enthusiastic. Dedicated.
Tell us more about your role at Daisy Education.
My role at Daisy Education as a Reading Development Consultant is to advise schools on the best possible way to achieve their reading fluency goals, with the aim of students becoming lifelong readers.
What do you enjoy most about being a Reading Development Consultant?
There are many things I enjoy about being a Reading Consultant. The sense of achievement is at the top. I like working with a great team where we all have the same goal and vision. I also enjoy seeing students loving the programme and becoming better readers the most.
When you are not working, what do you enjoy doing?
I’d love to say something exciting, but I spend a lot of my spare time with my partner and children. We do lots of family activities, and kids’ football, dancing and singing take up a lot of my non-working time. I do squeeze the odd Newcastle match in here and there!
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Don’t stress about the little things in life.
What was your favourite childhood book?
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by CS Lewis.
What piece of tech can you not live without and why?
My phone. My whole life is on that device.
If you had a superpower, what would it be and why?
Time travel. I’d love to be able to go back to some of the most important events in time. It would be amazing! Getting the winning lottery numbers wouldn’t go amiss, either.
